How much does it cost to go to a bachelor party?

About a thousand dollars, but it can vary. I’ve been to six bachelor parties over the past six years, and I’d do all six again. Getting a group together is hard, and these events have given us the opportunity to do everything from skiing to fly fishing while making great memories together.

It’s not free though. Looking at the numbers, the total cost heavily depends on logistics; specifically whether you have to board an airplane ($1,200 average trip cost) or can drive to the event ($700-$800 average trip cost). Flying doesn’t just add airfare costs though, it also typically correlates with more expensive meals out and lots of Ubers. From there, the activity budget can vary widely depending on whether the group is more into hanging around the house, bar hopping, or booking organized excursions like skiing or whitewater rafting.

If you’ve ever been on a bachelor (or bachelorette) party, you probably already have strong feelings about Splitwise (an app to track group expenses). Other than a few wildcards, my friends have mostly used the app responsibly such that it’s a great tool for splitting shared expenses. That said, communication is key, especially around the question, are the attendees going to pay for 100% of the groom’s expenses? It’s a generous thought but my vote is generally no, as everyone is already paying a lot just to be there. First round is definitely on me though!

The costs certainly add up, but the real value is the friendship along the way.

*Note the chart above utilized an “Inflation Factor” to present all expenses in 2026 dollars. Also, I’ve actually been to seven bachelor parties including my own, but unfortunately I didn’t keep stats on that event… I’d estimate that it was <$700 per person.
